Article Marketing | Using Unique Articles to Build Traffic

By now, you should know that article marketing is one of the best ways to increase traffic, brand your name and your website, improve search engine rankings, and get backlinks to your websites. What you may not realize is that if you’re submitting the same articles to the article directories, a lot of your efforts are being wasted.

I’ve been testing Noel Swanson’s Unique Article Wizard in order to drive traffic to two different web sites. One website has been around since June of 2004, and has over 130 pages, and the other has been online only since January of 2007, with under 30 pages. I thought these two sites would be a good test, since one is more mature and has quite a few more pages. In addition, they are both in two totally different niches, and neither one has anything to do with Internet Marketing, MLM, or business opportunities.

We’re at the one month milestone in our test, so I thought this would be a good time to let the cat out of the bag and let you in on what I’ve been doing. So far, the results are impressive. I’ll tell you more about the results in a minute, but if you can’t wait to test your sites with it, run over to Unique Article Wizard and sign up. And yes, I’ll get an affiliate commission when you do, but that’s not why I’m recommending it. I’m recommending it because it works!

Now, before I go on, let me say that I’ve used and tested Isnare, Jetsubmitter, manual article submissions, and a few other methods. Nothing comes close to the results I’ve seen with Noel Swanson’s tool. Not even close. This is power article marketing at its best.

This tool combines the advantages of Isnare’s hands-off approach to article submission, with the control of being able to choose exactly how your keywords will be promoted (with Noel’s expert guidance). It combines Jetsubmitter’s ability to submit unique versions of articles to multiple directories (literally hundreds), without having to decide for yourself what is or is not unique content. The tool does that for you.

It is also easier to use than Jetsubmitter, and using a proprietary process which I can’t reveal, will ensure that not only is unique content being distributed to each directory, but that you can get up to twice as many backlinks as standard article marketing. It also gives you reports and shows where Yahoo! lists the site you’re targeting for promotion. Very cool.

For example, I submitted two articles for one site, and three articles for another, and within three weeks I had over 1100 listings in Yahoo! for just one of the sites. But that’s not the best part!

The best part is that, and I just checked, at our one month milestone, both sites in our test rank on the first page of Google for the anchor text I selected. Here’s what I just noticed in Google for one of our test sites, www.magnetic-jewelry-connection.com

For the keyword, magnetic jewelry connection… we now rank number 2. We came from total obscurity, by the way, to number 2 within one month. Next month, I expect to knock the top dog out of first place. How? I’ll submit two more articles, of course, and let the wizard do its magic.

The second keyword, magnetic bracelets, we’re having a harder time ranking for. This is to be expected for several reasons, not the least of which is that is was a secondary keyword and I did not put it in the wizard as much as the first.

Also, prior to this test, this site had 0 pages indexed by Ask.com, and only a few indexed by the big 3. Within 2 weeks of the first article submission, we saw Ask index it’s first page, and about 90% of the pages were indexed by the big 3. This is a huge accomplishment. I could go on about this, but I’ll leave it at that for now.

I’ll report on the other test site in another article, but I highly suggest you at least try this service out for a couple of months. If you’ve been considering article marketing, don’t do it unless you do it right. Brad Fallon has done it again!

Brad Fallon, of myweddingfavors.com and StomperNet fame, has combined all the strengths of Youtube, Google, and Amazon into one site.

This site has an affiliate program that allows you to embed video on any site you want just like YouTube. But when the person goes to the site and makes a purchase, you get paid.

Yup… You actually get paid for promoting other people’s videos. Cool, huh? In addition, there’s a 1 year cookie, which means that if the visitor returns within a year and makes a purchase, you still get paid.

But wait! There’s more!

Once the visitor is tagged as your customer, you can get paid over and over again. This is in contrast to many affiliate programs where you may get paid once, if at all. Also, it’s a two tier program, so you can build a solid income by encouraging others to become affiliates.

As evidenced by his past successes, Brad is a master, and anything he touches seems to turn to gold. Now you can cash in on some of that gold. Also, if you’ve been hearing about Web 2.0 as the latest and greatest, this site has that part of it nailed down. Here’s why… The videos have the latest technology to that will allow ratings, relevancy, and scoring.

List Building

I’ll be updating you on my progress with the first of my sites in my army of blogs in a few days. For now though, and based on the response to Alok Jain’s list building blog entry, I’m going to make this a short post and simply recommend that you join a very simple but very powerful list building program. List building is not the only way to go, but it certainly is one way to get more visitors, repeat customers, and produce a more steady income on the Internet.

Judging by the comments on Alok’s blog, people really are starving for a list building system. I’m going to be testing an update to my list building concept soon. If you haven’t built a list before, it will certainly help you do that. But for now, you can get started right away by joining Robert Puddy’s list building program.

Site Recommendation | Andre Chaperon

Not that I agree with everything he says, or that he’s got all the answers (no one does). But, Andre has an interesting and certainly entertaining take on the Internet Marketing scene. If nothing else, you should check out his Clickbank adventures. Andre set out to see if he could choose a product and make some money with Adwords and a landing page, even though he knew nothing about the subject that the product was about. I love tests like that.

His product choice? A book on how to win at a popular computer game! I say that’s a bit daring, since gamers speak a language all their own, and each game is so different. It’s quite the interesting read, and I learned a few things. I hope you do too.

What Internet Marketing Tools Should You Use?

Many times, when I see a successful Internet Marketer talking about a project they worked on, it makes me wonder. John Reese is famous for being able to make money on the web, and when I look at his example of his Adsense success, it makes me wonder. I know that he’s created successful profit centers in the past, but how did he know that what he was doing this particular time was the right thing?

How exactly did he create the sites? What did he use for content? How did he do his research? What tools did he use to research the niches? To build the sites? What web hosting company? How did he do it so fast? How can I prevent making the same niche marketing mistakes that most people are making?

I’m still researching my topics for my army of blogs. Soon, I’m going to let you in on which topic I’ve chosen for my case study, and why. I’m also going to show you how I did my research so that if this project is successful, you can do the same.

It used to take me days to research and write several pages, although I’ve got some tools now that have cut that down to hours. But still, I wonder. Can I do it better? Faster? With more confidence that what I’m doing will actually produce an income, as well as value for my visitors and subscribers?

On that note, coming up in a future post, I’d like to introduce you to a tool that I use. It’s not perfect, far from it. It definitely has some aspects that I don’t like. For one thing, it tries to do far too much for a desktop application. My sincerest hope is that the creator will make this tool a hosted solution at some point and do us all a favor. I’d pay monthly to get the data that this tool collects.

For another thing, as Internet Marketing tools go, I think it seems a little complicated to use. Notice I said “seems” since it really isn’t that complicated. I’d like to see the interface revamped a little. I’ll get into more detail at a later time as right now I have to go back to using this tool to do some research. I’ll report on my research within the next few weeks, we’ll build out a site, and we’ll see if we can make some Adsense income! Stay tuned.

An Army of Blogs for Profit

I’ve done some earlier research on some niches and I’m going to share some of the results with you. I’ve already chosen my topic, and registered my domain name. Next I’ll build out the site. I have some preliminary work to do, and then I’ll show you the results of my research on this niche.

Just to give you a hint of what’s in store, I’ll tell you that I’ve used several tools to check and cross check the niche. Even after doing that research, though, it may not matter all that much which niche I choose, since I’m not shooting for the moon here. I just want something that’s in profit fairly quickly, and can achieve a sustainable income.

Remember that I’m only showing you one niche, one site. The idea is to build an army of blogs in different niches, so you’ll want to research several at once, and then build out the sites.

In fact, one technique using article marketing is to build three sites of about five or six pages each, each one in a different niche. Put adsense ads on every page. Then, write and distribute several articles per niche to the article directories.

Wait a few days and watch the traffic and the adsense income. Whichever niche site makes the most money, keep it and dump the others. Then, begin blasting the article directories with articles on that niche to drive traffic and search engine rankings higher. Your “research,” or at least the bulk of it, is validated when you see your site (or sites) making money. That’s a bit of a sloppier approach, and it could cost you a bit more than doing it the way I’m doing it with the research up front, but it does work.

The next part of the process is the article marketing. Write and submit one article per day to the directories. Do this for 30 full days.

I have a unique twist on this article blasting idea that I’m testing, and so far it’s working very well for some existing sites I have. I’ll have the results of that test soon. It takes about two months or so for the system to really kick in, and I’m not there yet as of this writing.

In my system, I’m hoping you need fewer than 30 articles. I’m estimating you need about eight to ten articles per site for the initial blast, but I could be wrong. If I am, I’ll adjust my number. Then, for the next test on the next site, I’ll use that number and see if it flies.

Watch and learn from my mistakes as I try to identify and model profitable web businesses. Did you know that the majority of websites do not make a profit, and hardly get any traffic?

I’ll be doing a number of experiments and reporting on the results. As I find profitable business models, I’ll research them. Then I’ll try to model my business after them and together we’ll see if an ordinary person can actually make a profit.

Watch and learn from my mistakes as we tackle our first project. Here’s what we’ll do… we’ll research a niche, build a keyword list, select a domain name, and create a site from scratch. Our first test will be to start an army of blogs in various niches by building our first niche blog site. Our goal is create sites that earn $10 a day or so within 2 months.

Wait! I can hear you now… $10? Yes, $10. Why? Because $10,000 dollars sounds way too far out of reach. Most sites are lucky to make $1 per day, even after months of hard work. So, we’ll use niche marketing to build sites that earn, I hope, $10 per day.

Ok, so I’ve already done some of the hard part here and identified a profitable business model… an army of blog sites. We’re going to research and build our first site. Ready? Go…

Wait! Stop a second. This is going to be pretty quick and dirty. Due to time constraints (I need to spend most of my time finding out where the profits are, researching my potentially profitable twist on things, and building the business) I can’t possibly explain everything I’m thinking and doing, so I’m going to give you the highlights. That’s the bad news.

The good news is that niche marketing is not that complicated. It’s actually quite simple and has several major components. You just need to know what the steps are, and where the mistakes are.

It’s the details, the nuances, and the “tricks” that make it more effective (or less effective if you do it wrong). Once we find what works for us, (based on copying a business model that we know works), then we just repeat the process over and over again, and then improve on it.

I’m going to show you how to do it, but I can’t buy and use the tools for you. I can’t think for you. I can’t make you take action.

You have to take initiative and make it happen for yourself. Take action!

I’m also going to make some mistakes, we all do. Even the best marketers make mistakes, and they rarely hit it big on the first try. Don’t get discouraged by that, it’s just the way it is with any business. The late great Corey Rudl said it best… “we fail all the time. The key is to fail small.”
